How Olorato handles this, in plain language.
Olorato verifies, structures, sources and introduces. The physical work is contracted directly between homeowner and provider.

Public Olorato and the private desk
Olorato deliberately separates two things. The public platform carries provider profiles, material categories, the plan catalogue, project forms and verification explanations - and no private applicant data, no ID documents and no internal notes. The private Olorato desk holds identities, requests, contact details, verification records, BOQs, introductions and outcomes. The public app stays lean; the business still remembers what happened.
What we collect
- Details you enter on a form - name, email, phone and your project or listing information.
- An emailed one-time code to confirm a post is genuine. The email address is required because the code is sent there.
- On your own device only: saved providers and your project stack, held in local storage - not on our servers, and not tied to an account.
The confirmation code
When you submit a public form, your request is held temporarily while you confirm the six-digit code emailed to you. It only enters the Olorato operating record after the code is confirmed. This is the first trust gate - it keeps the marketplace free of automated spam and means the desk only ever handles real, contactable people. A held request that is never confirmed expires and is discarded, and confirming an email is exactly that: it confirms a working inbox, not your identity, trade or workmanship.
How we use it
- To confirm your submission is from a real, contactable person and to make introductions.
- To qualify requirements and circulate opportunities to suitable providers - with your personal details kept private until the appropriate stage.
- To keep an internal record of marketplace activity and reliability.
Legal basis
We process your information under Botswana's data protection framework - the Data Protection Act and the regulations administered by the Information and Data Protection Commission. Where your information touches South Africa - a diaspora client, a cross-border supplier - we also apply POPIA. Our basis is your consent when you submit a form and confirm the emailed code, our legitimate interest in running an accountable marketplace and preventing fraud, and, once an introduction is agreed, the performance of that arrangement. [CLIENT FILLS: confirm the exact current statutory citation with your legal advisor before production.]
How long we keep it
We keep a defined retention schedule rather than an open-ended period:
- Held, unconfirmed submissions: discarded automatically when the code expires (minutes).
- Confirmed requests that do not proceed: up to 12 months, then removed.
- Active listings and introductions: for as long as the listing or engagement is active.
- Completed requests and introduction outcomes: up to 24 months for reliability history and dispute resolution.
- Verification evidence: for the life of the verification plus 24 months.
- Complaints and safety records: up to 36 months.
- On-device data (your saved providers and project stack): stays on your device until you clear it - we never hold it.
Your rights
- Ask what the desk holds about you, and get a copy.
- Have information corrected, or removed where we are not required to keep it.
- Withdraw consent and have your listing taken down.
- Object to a particular use, or ask us to restrict it.
- Complain to the Information and Data Protection Commission of Botswana if you are not satisfied with our response.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not release your contact details to a provider before the appropriate stage.
- We do not treat a verification check as a guarantee, or imply one.
No account, your control
Olorato needs no account to start. Saved providers and project stacks live on your device and you can clear them at any time. To ask what the desk holds about you, or to have it removed, contact the Olorato desk.
